Originally from Bristol where they did Light Show's at The Granary before relocating to London and getting a residency at The Roundhouse.

Also did lights at Queen Mary College in 1970.

“Weds Oct 22nd 1969 at a West of England College of Art promotion First Light Light Show were making their first appearance since creator Rod Bell had returned from the Filmore West in San Francisco, where he had been projecting for the likes of Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead. Rod, his brother Nick, and Dave Borthwick, as First Light, built up such a reputation that they secured a residency at The Roundhouse in London.

In later years Dave Borthwick set up an animation company, The Bolex Brothers, which won several International Film Festival Awards for their film “The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb” in the early 90’s.

They were also responsible for several national TV animated commercials for companies such as Boots Opticians”
