Relaxed Uterus Project

I was a fan of Liquid Light Lab and emailed Steve Pavlovsky! He taught me everything I know.

Steve also heavily influenced me. In addition to that, while not people, cartoons like Rocky and Bullwinkle and the Perils of Penelope Pitstop inspire me and are the source of much of what I do.

I have worked with Deerhoof, Shannon and the Clams, and Evolfo to name a few! I have also projected at DJ events, music festivals, and gallery spaces.

Steve Pavlovsky of Liquid Light Lab taught me! I have worked with Spaghetti Jesus as well at Pizzafest.

I get bad cramps and I was talking to my friend about how I wanted my uterus to chill… haha - hence the name, Relaxed Uterus Project!

A student art magazine at Columbia, Ratrock, was planning a gallery show whose theme was “aroused” or some sexual word I cannot remember anymore. I made a joke about mixing porn with cartoons at this show and setting the projections to show-tunes or similarly lighthearted nonsexual music, and before I knew it, my joke became something I committed to doing.

Since I need my computer to run Lumen, I could not use online porn. My friend and I went to a “Adult Video” store in Times Square to find DVD content to feed into my mixer. I ended up using cheerleader and astrology porn haha

I began by doing purely liquids with an overhead projector because that’s what I first knew about.

Then, I moved on to using a video mixer with VHS tapes, a camcorder, lumen video synth, DVD player, and Tachyons+ psychenizer. I now much prefer to do this to liquids, as I think it has more room for distinguishing my work from that of others!
